NLC mining equipment rejigged at Rs. 45-crore

 

NEYVELI | Jan 23, 2015:

The mining equipment of NLC, which has been reconditioned after three decades.


 

After having served for over three decades and logging in 1.25 lakh working hours the bucket-wheel excavator, deployed in Mine-I of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation, has been rejuvenated at a cost of Rs. 45 crore.

 

The reconditioning of the heavy machinery was done in the Specialised Mining Equipment Yard of the NLC within 12 months, one month less than the projected 13-month period. The machinery was revived with the assistance of the original equipment manufacturer Thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions, Germany.

 

In a statement released here, the NLC said that the rejigged machinery was rededicated by NLC Chairman-cum-Managing Director B. Surender Mohan in the presence of NLC Directors Sarat Kumar Acharya, Rakesh Kumar and Subir Das on Thursday.

 

The machinery has now been loaded with the ‘programme logic control technology’ for efficient and safer operations.
