Lingaraj Coal Mines Forcibly Closed – NTPC supply hit

 

Bhubaneswar | Dec 28, 2017: In a bizarre incident at Lingaraj Mines of MCL,during the night of 24th December 2017 an empty tipper rammed into another standing tipper within the mines area causing injury to the tipper driver. The tipper driver was immediately shifted to AMRI hospital Bhubaneswar and successfully operated upon. The expenses of the driver belonging to the PAP Cooperative Society, engaged for coal loading and transportation borne by the Cooperative Society and it was confirmed that all legitimate compensation will be provided.

 

However, the honorable MLA of Talcher Shri Braja Kishor Pradhan leading a mob of around 50 people entered the chamber of the General Manager, Lingaraj Area and demanded a compensation of Rs 20 Lakhs and forcibly closed down Lingaraj mines from the night shift of 24th of December 2017.The Lingaraj mines which produces about of 52,000 Tonnes on daily basis and which is the dedicated mines of NTPC Kaniha has already suffered a loss in production to the tune of 78,000 Tonnes till 25th December 2017 due to the illegal demand of honorable MLA. Moreover with the stalemate still continuing it is feared that operation at NTPC Kaniha would be affected due to non-supply of coal.
