In yet another feather in its cap, the public-sector mining major NMDC has ben awarded with ‘CII-ITC Sustainability Award-2017 – Commendation for significant Achievement’ under CSR category.
It need be mentioned that NMDC has been chosen for this prestigious award after scrutinising 40 applicant organisations.
In a release issued, the NMDC stated that it’s a matter of pride for mining company in receiving the award for its CSR programmes.
NMDC CMD N Baijendra Kumar, in his congratulatory message, “NMDC has always been in the forefront of several areas be it mining, CSR or economic development of backward regions of its activities. NMDC’s CSR Story is as old as the company itself and has spawned several success stories in its decades long history.”
The award was received by Usha Singh, GM (BD&CP) and P Shyam, DGM (CSR) on behalf of NMDC. The award ceremony was held at a function organized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in New Delhi on December 12, 2017.
In association with Chhattisgarh government, NMDC is creating a hub of educational facilities in the security sensitive Dantewada district and provide conducive environment to the local children for pursuing education. Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciated these initiatives during his recent visit, said the release.
