JHARSUGUDA | Dec 18, 2017: Mahanandi Coalfields Limited (MCL), Lakhanpur has acquired 57 acres of agriculture land in Darlipali village to expand its coal mines.
The company officials, in the presence of armed police, have taken possession of the land. Police arrested at least 66 villagers protesting against the acquisition by MCL. Sub-Collector Ajay Jena, Lakhanpur Tehsildar Hemsagar Bhoi, Brajrajnagar SDPO Nrupa Charan Dandasena, Banharpali IIC Purusottam Bhoi, Belpahar IIC Suresh Sahoo, Lakhanpur IIC Baikunthanath Seth and Rengali IIC Pratap Rana were present.
