The growth story of Chhattisgarh, one of the fasted growing states of India, echoed strongly recently in Hyderabad at the star-studded function organised by the public sector mining giant, NMDC, to mark its diamond jubilee year celebrations.
M Venkaiah Naidu, Vice President of India, who was the chief guest of the function on December 8, hailed the growth story of Chhattisgarh while referring to a recent study carried out by rating firm Crisil which confirmed that Chhattisgarh along with Gujarat and Haryana witnessed the highest growth rates between year 2013-2017.
Naidu made the remark in presence of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh and he stated that smaller states in India can learn a lot from Chhattisgarh.
The NMDC diamond jubilee year celebrations was largely dominated by high-attendance of tribal people from Bastar region who kept the function alive with repeated slogans from upper gallery of Shilpa Kala Vedika, the venue of the NMDC function where nearly 2,000 people assembled to witness the NMDC function.
Bastar tribal people kept chanting slogans Rs Chhattisgarhia Sable Badhiya’ which gave sense that NMDC’s lifeline lies in Bastar where the company operates several massive mines in Dantewada district.
NMDC has made massive investments in Bastar, one of India’s most poverty-hit areas, and the company is expected to make a 3 MTPA integrated steel plant operational in 2018 at Nagarnar which will unlock development in the area.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh has already announced that his government was committed to make all-round development of Bastar which is mired into poverty for generations. Singh said that his government would work in partnership with NMDC to fast track development in Bastar region.
