Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL)’s TRB Iron Mine at Tensa in Sundergarh district has bagged as many as 23 awards in the valedictory function of 55th Annual Mines Safety Week celebration held at Joda in Keonjhar district on Sunday.
Of the 11 awards it won in Mines Category, the unit was declared first in Swachh Khadan Sarvekshana, second in Illumination, Electrical Safety, Workshop Facility and Plant & Equipment Maintenance. Similarly, the Mine was adjudged second in Best Stall displayed at concluding function, Vocational Training Centre and Publicity & Propaganda. In Statutory Provisions/Compliances, Implementation of Safety Management Plan and Overall Performance, the Mine was awarded third.
Besides, 12 persons from the company’s Tensa Unit won individual prizes in categories including Electrical Trade Test, Dumper Operator Test, First Aid Competition and English Poster Competition.
Receving the award JSPL’s Associate Vice-President and Unit Head Mr. Pramod Kumar Patra said, “Safety is an important component of JSPL’s work culture. At TRB Iron Ore mines, we have adopted several initiatives to provide a safe and healthy workplace to our employees and workmen. I believe this award will further encourage our employees and workers to practice safety at workplace”.
The event, organised under the aegis of Directorate of Mines Safety, Chaibasa Region was hosted by Eastern Zone Mining Association (EZMA). In the concluding event, as many as 89 mines operating under the Chaibasa Region had participated in 13 categories.
Among others Shri Asim Kumar Sinha, Deputy Director General of Mines Safety, South Eastern Zone, Ranchi; Satish Kumar, Director of Mines Safety, Chaibasa Region; S Bharati, DDMS, Ranchi, Anand Kumar Agrawal, DDMS, Ranchi; Ajay Kumar Yadav, DDMS, Ranchi and EZMA General Secretary Prabodh Kumar Mohanty were present on the occasion.
The weeklong celebration witnessed inspection of mines & vocational training centres, exhibitions on mining safety and cultural events like staging of plays and on safety and protection.
