Dimapur | December 4, 2017: The Department of Geology & Mining has been authorized by the Government of Nagaland to grant quarry and mining permit and to levy royalty/tax from minor minerals, including sand, boulders, gravels etc.
Director of Geology & Mining department, Wanthang Rengma today informed this in a press release, adding that all quarry and mining operators, transporters, suppliers and stockiest in Nagaland are to obtain quarry and mining permit from the Directorate of Geology & Mining located in Dimapur with immediate effect.
“Henceforth, any person, agency, or department other than the Department of Geology & Mining granting quarry or mining permit shall be treated as cancelled with immediate effect,” the release stated.
However, the quarry permits issued by the Forest department prior to this notification may be submitted to the Department of Geology & Mining for re-validation/re-issue of mining permit, it was informed.
A valid copy of the Treasury Challan already deposited to the government treasury through Forest department, if any, may also be submitted to the Directorate of Geology & Mining for further verification and regularization of the same on or before December 20, 2017, the Director added.
