Makrana, the marble city of Rajasthan, witnessed a major accident as 10 mines collapsed simultaneously late on Saturday evening.
According to the police, the incident occurred at the Sahab Wali marble range. Even the nearby road connecting the mines also caved in with them and electricity wires hung upside down from poles.
However, no casualty was reported in the incident as the mines were closed during the day following festival of Eid-Milad-Un-Nabi.
The local police officials visited the site and barricaded the damaged road.
Fortunately, even the workers that used to stay at the mines during the night were also away to attend the festivities.
Rescue works were still on and continued through Sunday.
