Ore transportation from Codli to finally commence tomorrow

Ore transportation from the Codli mine of Sesa Goa Vedanta will finally commence from November 25 on both the routes of Codli to Capxem and Codli to Amona after transportation rates were finalised during a meeting held on Thursday at the initiative of Sanvordem, Curchorem and Sanguem MLAs.

 

The deadlock between the truck owners and the mining company was finally cleared during a special meeting held at Sanvordem between the truck owners and the mining company officials. The meeting was also attended by Sanvordem MLA Deepak Pauskar, Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral and Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar.

 

The rates were finalised as Rs 12.50 per tonne per km from 0 to 10 km and Rs 52 for diesel per litre, while for 11 to 20 km – Rs 12 and diesel Rs 52. Further, for 21 to 30 km – Rs 11.50 and diesel Rs 52. These rates will be applicable for the Codli mine to Capxem and Codli mine to Amona routes.

 

The mining company was represented by head IOG of Sesa Goa Vedanta Vijay Kumar and head operations Joseph Coelho, while representatives of South Goa Progressive Truck Owners Association, Sesa Goa Truck Owners Association and Dharbandora Truck Owners Association were also present at the meet.

 

Speaking to media persons, Curchorem MLA expressed his satisfaction over solution to the problem of ore transportation and thanked the mining company. Sanvordem and Sanguem MLAs also expressed their satisfaction.

 

Gaonkar said the formula decided during the meet will also be implemented for ore transportation at Sanguem mines. It is learnt that the Dharbandora Truck Owners Association will convene a meeting on Friday at Kalsai at 4 pm to apprise the local truck owners of the decision. The Sanvordem MLA will attend the meet, it is learnt.

 

Earlier in the day, the South Goa Progressive Truck Owners Association had convened a special meeting at the Ravindra Bhavan in Curchorem in the morning. However, no solution could be arrived at during that meet, which on the contrary witnessed allegations and cross allegations.
