NAINITAL | Nov 22, 2017: Uncertainty looms large over mining activities in Nandhaur river in Kumaon since clearance from the Union ministry of forest and environment is still pending. Sources said that the state forest development corporation has set a target of 18 lakh cubic meter of mining material for this season and 3,500 transportation vehicles for the purpose have also been registered but work is held in the absence of a clearance.
They added that officials of the corporation are in Delhi to get the requisite clearance to start the mining work. Prem Singh Bora, divisional officer, forest development corporation, said, “We have made all preparations for mining in Nandhaur river and hope that the MoEF will grant us the clearance.”
Meanwhile, after a delay of almost two months, mining on Gaula riverbed start on November 26 after the district administration along with mining and state forest department convened a meeting on Tuesday to get things on track.
