No permission for bauxite mining in Andhra Pradesh

Visakhapatnam | Oct 24, 2017: AP Minister for Mines and Geology Sujay Krishna Ranga Rao on Monday clarified that there was no permission accorded for bauxite mining in the State and the GO permitting mining was scrapped long ago.

Talking to reporters here, illegal transport of sand would be controlled. The Government had introduced free supply of sand to ensure that sand should not be a burden to the common man.

However, some irregularities in this had come to his notice and mobile checkposts would be set up to prevent illegal transport of sand, he said.

There were checkposts in the past but after introduction of GST, they were lifted, he stated, adding that mobilecheckposts should take care of the illegal transport issue.

Also, it would be ensured that the loading and transport charges are fixed by the Government.

Sale of sand boosted the revenue by Rs.700 crore, he revealed and said that major minerals would be allocated through auction system. There were as many as 7,000 mines in the State and the borders would be marked through DGPS survey, the minister said.
