Sitting prettily with all sorts of mineral reserves, Jharkhand for the first time is going to organise a complete mining show to tap the potential transforming the State into a mining equipment manufacturer as well. The three-day show with tagline ‘Leading India’s Mining Momentum’ would see who’s who from miners as well as honchos from earth moving industry and related ancillaries sharing their views and discussing investment ideas.
Informing about the mega event coming up between October 30 and November 1 in Ranchi’s HEC Ground, Mining Department Secretary Sunil Kumar Barnwal said the show was timely also since policy shift taken place in the industry.
“There are changes made in the MMDR Act which has gone for transparent mine block auctioning. We in Jharkhand have already auctioned 12 different mines including two of gold and are also in the process of auctioning two of emerald, two of limestone, graphite, dolomite etc. For making the auction a success we need good players here participating with a confidence that entire ecosystem would be readily available for them to operate in the State. The JMS, 2017 would present such an opportunity,” said Barnwal on Sunday.
The show would consist of five technical sessions besides exhibition on latest, advanced machines used in the mining, their service and spare parts. Technical sessions would be focusing in ‘Role of Mining in Economic Development: Future Outlook and Opportunities in Mining Sector’, ‘Opportunities, Challenges and Risk in Mineral Exploration, ‘Safety and Sustainability in Mining’, ‘Market Potential of alternate usage of Coal: Demand – Supply Gap and New Technology and ‘Redefining Productivity: Role of OEM & OCM’.
“The event of this kind used to happen in Kolkata and other States and not in Jharkhand which is mineral capital of the country. In fact in recent times we have seen greater investment coming in the mining equipment manufacturing sector which would open doors for more investment coming into the State. We want that with friendly policy, good score on ‘ease of doing business’ and better environment building up, the momentum built so far gets replicated into mining sector in the State,” said Barnwal.
Coal India, NTPC, Tata Steel and SAIL have been chosen as event partner which would be organised under Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) banner. Union Minister for Railway and Coal Piyush Goyal is expected to inaugurate the show and Mines Minister Narendra Singh Tomar would remain present on the closing.
“We have over 50 expert speakers deliberating upon new technology such as coal to polygeneration, CBM etc. Heads of industry from Adani Group, Aditya Birla, Tata, JSW, HEC, Coal India etc would participate in the sessions. In the exhibition also we are expecting over 100 manufacturers from different fields showcasing their products. We would also be looking to convert doable proposals coming during the JMS, 2017 into MoUs,” added the Secretary flanked by Vice President with Tata Steel and CII’s Chairman (Jharkhand) Sunil Bhaskaran and SAIL’s Kameshwar Prasad.
