A hands-on training programme organised by NLC India Ltd (NLCIL) for mine workers focused on first aid concepts for exigencies such as head injury, fractures, haemorrhage and cardiac arrest.
The three-day workshop and hands-on training sessions was held in association with St. John Ambulance Association and the Tamil Nadu Mines Safety Association.
Addressing the valedictory session, S.K. Acharya, CMD, NLCIL, stressed the importance of first aid training for industrial complexes and the need for everyone to willingly come forward for training.
While a total of 529 members were given training in 2016-17, 109 members were trained in this three-day workshop consisting of members from seven other industries of Tamil Nadu. While 80 of them were from NLCIL, 29 were from other agencies.
The St. John Ambulance Association has a local centre in Neyveli, carrying out its activities related to first aid training in tandem with the medical branch of NLCIL, Neyveli.
V. Thangapandian, Director/Power, NLC India Ltd., Shyam Mishra, DDMS, Chennai Region and Dr. P. Ravi, CGS/Medical and Secretary, St. John Ambulance Neyveli unit, K. Mohan Reddy, CGM, NLCIL, Zonal Secretary, TNMSA and Dr. K. Janardhan, Chairman, St. John Ambulance Local Centre participated.
Prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions. Mr. Acharya also released a souvenir to commemorate the occasion.
