SHILLONG | Oct 12, 2017: There has been no end to the illegal transportation of coal in the state and many vehicles have been seized once again while transporting coal in violation of the NGT order.
On October 11 around 11 A.M., during Mining raid, Police detected one truck without number plate driven by one Ksoh Dkhar loaded with coal, in violation of NGT order at Mookhaialong village in East Jaintia Hills. On the same day, Police detected one truck (ML-04-2977) loaded with coal, in violation of NGT order at Lekilo village in the same district. However, the driver managed to flee.
Same day, Police detected one truck (AS-01AC-8401) driven by one Charlestar Marwein (24 yrs.), while transporting coal in violation of NGT order at Thahnar in West Khasi Hills.
Earlier on October 10, during Mining raid, Magistrates and Police detected one Bai Nongtdu [coal owner] along with four labourers, Sanjib Das (18), Narendra Das (34), Ranjit Das (24 yrs) and Bajo Basi (21 yrs), while they were extracting coal at Dkhiah East. Police also recovered 307 gelatin sticks and 282 detonators.
In another mining raid, Magistrates and Police detected seven labourers, Abu Samad (30), Hafiz Ali (35), Javed Ali (27), Lefaz Uddin (30), Fulchan Ali (29), Nurul Islam and Norej Ali, while they were extracting coal, reportedly, belonging to one Wish Mallik at Dkhiah East
Meanwhile, one Graham Lyngdoh of Tuber Kmaishnong in East Jaintia Hills lodged a complaint that on September 18, 2017 around 12.30 P.M, one Jubina Sutnga and her employees were found loading and transporting coal, illegally, in one vehicle (ML-04A-8116).
