State-owned miner NMDC today said it has produced 15.65 million tonnes iron ore in the April- September period of the current fiscal.
The company has produced 9.74 MT iron ore from its mines in Chhattisgarh and 5.91 MT from the mines in Karnataka, NMDC said in a filing to BSE.
NMDC also said it sold 17.61 MT iron ore during the said period.
Production and sales figures of iron ore are provisional, it added.
Last week, NMDC had slashed prices of higher grade iron (lumps) by Rs 100 to Rs 2,300 per tonne for October.
The miner also cut the prices for iron ore fines, which is inferior grade ore, by Rs 100 to Rs 2,060 per tonne for the current month.
Iron ore is the main ingredient used in making steel. NMDC is India's single largest iron ore producer, presently producing about 30 million tonnes (MT) of iron ore from three fully mechanised mines.
The company is involved in the exploration of wide range of minerals, including iron ore, copper, rock phosphate, limestone, dolomite, gypsum, bentonite, magnesite, diamond, tin, tungsten, graphite, beach sands etc.
