Police not to inspect vehicles carrying sand anymore: Nidhi Khare

Ranchi | Aug  21, 2017: Addressing media-persons at Soochana Bhawan, Jharkhand government spokesperson Nidhi khare today said that illegal mining and transport of sand will be inspected by mining officers and SDOs.

Now sand transportation has been made free from police checking. Task forces will be made at district and state level and strict checking will be ensured, she said.

Khare said the state mining officials are well aware of mines and minerals laws and can effectively curb illegal mining. As per reports, some sand mafia members at some places are sending sand out of the state with the help of the local police.

Taking serious note of this, the state government has decided that mining officers and SDOs will conduct surprise checking from time to time and adequate forces will be provided to them. In order to carry out developmental work, sand export must be checked, she said.

Khare further informed that Jharkhand is moving fast to achieve its goal under the Swachha Bharat Mission. “Ramgarh and Lohardaga have been made ODF.

The state is moving fast to match the national ratio on ODF. Now Jharkhand is only 7% behind compared to last year’s 17%. By 2018, Jharkhand will be able to complete this target. Presently, 903 village panchayats and 7669 revenue villages of 46 blocks have been made ODF.

By 2nd October 2017, 75 blocks will be made ODF. So far as pace of toilet making is concern, it is more than the national average,” she said.

Khare said the fund for constructing toilets will be transferred directly into the bank accounts of beneficiaries through DBT. She further said that hand washing system will be installed in the school to maintain cleanliness.

The state government has ensured the participation of near about 4 lakh women in implementing Swachha Bharat Mission.

Moreover, swayamsevaks of panchayat secretariats are trained as harbingers of sanitation and those villages and panchayats which have been made ODF are given the benefits of Ujjawala schemes.

Drinking Water and Sanitation Principal Secretary AP Singh, Sanitation Director Rajesh Sharma, Mining Commissioner Abubakar Siddiqui and IPRD Director Ramlakhan Gupta were also present at the press conference.
