Meet on mining issues from July 7

 

UDAIPUR | July 04, 2017: Mining Engineers' Association of India, Rajasthan Chapter, Udaipur in association with College of Technology and Engineering (CTAE) is all set to host a seminar on recent mining and environmental issues in the country.

 

The three-day programme, starting from July 7, will be attended by renowned mining engineers from India. Ranjan Sahay, controller general, Indian Bureau of Mines, will deliver the key note.

 

"Mining industry contributes significantly to economy of the country. For proper operation of mining industry, several amendments in rules and regulations have been made from time to time. Despite sincere efforts, several mining projects across the country are on standstill owing to court cases, delay in environmental clearances and regulatory problems," said Prof SS Rathore, dean of CTAE.

 

The impact of mining and allied activities on environment should be evaluated in a realistic and precise manner and therefore, the seminar will focus on providing technical inputs for improving the quality of mine environment in order to continue mining operation in an eco-friendly manner, Rathore added.

 

Senior officials of Mines and Geology Department from various states, Indian Bureau of Mines are expected to participate.
