PANJIM | May 30, 2017: Continuing their action against illegal mineral transporters, Directorate of Mines and Geology (DMG) on Monday seized 24 trucks transporting illegal minor minerals in six different raids.
The department, along with police, seized 24 tippers carrying sand, laterite and basalt. The raids were held at Porvorim, Farmagudi, Marcel, Keri and Honda.
A Mines Department official confirmed that the trucks were seized for transporting minerals in violation of Minor Mineral Concession Rules 2013. “They were kept at respective police station and were released later on payment of compounding fees,” the official said.
Earlier this month, in two different raids 46 trucks were seized for ferrying illegal minor minerals.
