Popularly called May Day, the day that celebrates labour and labourers also saw over 150 workers from Lohardaga and Gumla protesting before Raj Bhavan. Their prominent demands included permanent jobs for all who gave up their land for Hindalco's bauxite mining project, lesser use of machines to generate more jobs and basic amenities for people in mining areas.
