DALTONGANJ | April 24, 2017: The decks have been cleared for resuming activities in two mines, Semra and Salatuwa under Chainpur block in Palamu, which remained shut for at least a decade now.
Palamu BJP MP V D Ram, member of the Lok Sabha's Coal Consultative Committee, said, "The leases of these two mines had expired and now the Palamu administration has taken steps to renew the leases. These two mines should begin operations in another two to three months time."
Ram added, "The district administration will reach a term of agreement with the Jharkhand State Mineral Development Corporation (JSMDC) for re-opening these mines and all the formalities will be completed in few months."
On this agreement, DC Ameet Kumar said, "The agreement will be signed by Palamu DC, the district mining officer and officials of JSMDC."
