PEDDAPALLI | March 29, 2017:
Only four divisions of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) - RG-3, Bellampalli, RG-1 and Bhupalapalli have achieved cent per cent production of the coal days before the completion of the financial year.
The Kothagudem, Illendu, Manuguru, RG-2, Mandamarri and Srirampur division failed to achieve the targets. Interestingly, out of the coal produced 50.76 million tonnes was from Opencast Project Coal Mines (OCPs) and remaining 9.50 million tonnes from the Underground (UG) mines.
Similarly, the shortage of sand to stow underground mines after excavation of the coal had also affected the coal production in the UG mines. Though, the Singareni management had launched a poster campaign and educated the miners to increase the coal production and reduce the losses, it did not materialise. The non-opening up of new mines in the region had also affected the coal production.
However, the official sources said that they had achieved the targeted coal production set by the Government. They had fixed internal coal production target of 58 million tonnes and achieved 60.26 million tonnes so far. Till this month end, they would achieve 61 million tonnes plus, with a daily production of 2.35 lakh tonnes of coal production.
