After crackdown on illegal mining, 15 new mining sites identified in Jalandhar

 

JALANDHAR | March 27, 2017: When state government has already launched a crackdown on illegal mining Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma has said that the district administration has adopted twin action policy under which a stern action is being taken against the illegal mining besides ensuring the proper supply for common man.

 

He said that the newly identified mines included Baupur, Chahula, khairalpur, Youssefpur, Burrewal. Deputy Commissioner has also made it clear that the Punjab police will provide security and protection to the legal digging of sand. He also said that timing for digging of sand across the district had been fixed from 6 AM to 7 PM ,which would be implemented from April 1.Meanwhile keeping in view the upcoming monsoon season he also asked the officials of Irrigation department to remain vigilant about the security of the Dhushi bandh across the banks of Satluj river and also asked them to form a joint action committee with the officials of Industry department. Jalandhar SSP (Rural) Gurpreet Singh Bhullar informed that the teams comprising of civil and police officials were continuing with surprise checking especially during nights.
