In India, for the year 2017-18, 222 mineral blocks are in the pipeline to get auctioned, but it is totally dependant on the readiness of the state government as well as the status of exploration.
For auction, 9 states are preparing 75 mineral blocks, namely Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.
Karnataka leads the list with 57 mineral blocks on offer for auction.
On the other hand there are 100 lapsed mineral applications which are filed in the case where mining lease could not be executed due to lack of environment and forestry clearances within the deadline of January 11.
