Haryana govt allocating mining blocks through e-tendering

Chandigarh | Mar 8, 2017: The Haryana government today said it was allocating mining blocks through e-tendering to check illegal mining and corruption.

Minister of State for Mining and Geology Nayab Singh Saini said this while speaking at the ongoing Budget Session of the Haryana Assembly here.

He said anyone could apply for the mining blocks and claimed that this was the first time a state government had maintained “complete transparency” in allocating them.

Saini alleged that during the previous Congress regime, its leaders had committed many irregularities in the allocation of mining blocks.

“They (Congress leaders) are only trying to level false allegations against the present government, which is serving the people with honesty and dedication. It is also initiating concrete steps to prevent illegal mining,” he said.

Saini alleged that the opposition leaders did not have any issue to raise and were simply trying to obstruct the proceedings of the House.

He challenged Congress MLA Kuldeep Sharma to disclose in the House the names of those involved in illegal mining, so that stern action could be taken against them.

The Assembly witnessed an uproar yesterday after Sharma alleged that some people, “sitting in the House”, were involved in illegal mining. A privilege motion was brought against the Congress legislator for “misleading” the House.
