Action against those indulging in illegal mining

Date | March 09, 2017:

The Telangana State Mineral Development Corporation (TSMDC) has decided to crack the whip on those indulging in illegal mining and transport of sand in different parts of the State.

At a high-level meeting here on Wednesday, TSMDC Chairman S. Subash Reddy asked the officials concerned to take steps to check “fake way bills” being produced by truck operators.

Efforts should be made to prevent movement of trucks with loads more than the prescribed limit and the officials should “blacklist” trucks that were found violating norms.

The contractors had been directed to abide by the norms and the project officers should initiate stringent action against those violating the rules. In the process, efforts should be made to set up adequate check posts and way bridges in addition to ensuring that sand mining was done within the limits prescribed.

“Notices will be served on contractors who are found guilty of violating norms and this will be followed by cancellation of their licences,” he said adding that necessary instructions in this direction had already been issued to the officers concerned.
