BIT Sindri signs MoU to train Tata employees

 

Sindri | Feb 28, 2017: In a significant development, BIT Sindri, the sole government engineering college in the state signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with steel major Tata group for providing engineering diploma certificates to group employees. Besides this, Tata Steel has also agreed to provide internship to 25 students from each branch on the institute every year.

 

Institute director DK Singh said that as per the agreement with the Tata group, the institute will begin evening engineering diploma courses for matriculate employees of the group. Initially, the college will provide diploma courses in mining, electrical and mechanical engineering to 35 employees. Classes for company employees will commence in the evening after regular classes are over and teachers taking classes in the evening will get additional remuneration, Singh informed.

 

The curriculum for the three-year diploma course will be decided jointly by the Tata group and institute experts to meet the industrial requirement of the employer, he added.

 

"Tata group, which has signed similar MoUs with IITs and NITs in the past, has shown trust in BIT Sindri. This shows that our institute is among the best in the eastern region," the director said.
