SCCL power unit achieves record output

Mancherial | Feb 28, 2017: One of the units of Singareni Collieries Company Limited’s (SCCL) thermal power plant at Pegadapalli in Jaipur mandal created a record of sorts by registering high output in the month of February against its installed capacity. The plant has two units of 600 MW each.

According to a statement issued by the coal major, Unit II achieved 100 per cent plant load factor (PLF) in February. Unit I registered 90 per cent of PLF during the same period. Therefore, the average PLF of the plant accounted for 95 per cent. This is higher than plants operating in the State and belonging to Telangana State Power Generation Corporation (TSGENCO) and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).

“It is important to note that the two units of the plant have generated record production of electricity within a short span of time following Commercial Operation Declaration (CoD). This credit goes to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao,” said SCCL Chef and Managing Director N Sridhar. While CoD of Unit I was done in September, the Unit II underwent CoD in December, 2016.

On August 6 last, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the 1,200 MW State-owned mining company Singareni Thermal Power Project to the nation in the presence of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.

The SCCL erected the plant by investing Rs 8,250 crore. The plant has been allotted 3 tmc water from Godavari and Pranahita. It consumes 60 lakh tonnes of coal from the Singareni mines.
