Udaipur | Feb 23, 2017: In a joint raid by State Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (SDRI) and Regional Transport Office (RTO) Udaipur, at Jhamarkotda mine under Rajasthan State Mines and Mineral Limited, 53 vehicles engaged in mining work were found to be operated against norms and proper registration. Of these, 50 belong to a private contractor firm while three were of the RSSML. The raid was conducted Wednesday after the arrival of a SDRI team.
"It was a joint action by SDRI team and Udaipur regional transport officer. A part of the mine had been given on sub-lease to two firms Hariram-Godara on joint venture (JV) who had engaged 50 vehicles. When we raided the mine, vehicles, being used for mining purpose, were found without proper documents and mandatory registration," an officer told TOI on condition of anonymity.
Remaining three vehicles belonged to RSMML and officers hadn't overlooked the regulations related to vehicle operation which is a serious issue. The vehicles include dumpers, loaders and earth moving equipment, sources said.
