Three mines of NMDC have received 5 Star Rating

NMDC's highly mechanized two iron ore mines i.e. Bailadila Deposit - 10/11A, Bailadila Iron Ore Mine, Bacheli Complex, Chhattisgarh and Donimalai Iron Ore Mine, Donimalai, Karnataka and one Diamond Mining Project, Majhgawan, Panna, Madhya Pradesh have received 5 star rating by Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), Ministry of Mines, Government of India.

 

The 5 star rating certificates were given by Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of State for Power, Coal, New & Renewable Energy & Mines, and Mr. Balvinder Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Mines, Government of India at a function held at New Delhi on 15.02.2017.

 

Shri P.K. Satpathy, Director (Production), NMDC; Shri Arun Kumar Shukla, Executive Director, BIOM, Bacheli Complex; Shri B. Sahoo, General Manager, DIOM, Donimalai and Shri C.B.P. Sinha, General Manager, DMP, Panna received the certifications on behalf of NMDC.

 

The star ratings are awarded to the mining leases for their efforts and initiatives taken for implementation of the Sustainable Development Framework (SDF). The best performing leases are given 5 star ratings.

 

The evaluation and assessment is based on the SDF implementation on parameters like: Management of impact by carrying out scientific and efficient mining; Addressing social impacts of resettlement and rehabilitation requirements for taking up mining activities; Local community engagements and welfare programmes; Steps taken for progressive and final mine enclosure; Adoption of international standards.

 

NMDC since inception has been in the forefront in encouraging and implementing best sustainable mining practices and adopting scientific mining, mineral conservation and beneficiation techniques. This recognition will help NMDC to reach greater heights of excellence in mining.

 

Shares of NMDC LTD. was last trading in BSE at Rs.136.3 as compared to the previous close of Rs. 136.9. The total number of shares traded during the day was 207665 in over 1145 trades.

 

The stock hit an intraday high of Rs. 138 and intraday low of 135.1. The net turnover during the day was Rs. 28318448.
