Arun Kumar, a senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, has been appointed as mines secretary as part of a minor top-level bureaucratic reshuffle effected on Tuesday by the government.
Kumar, a 1983 batch IAS officer of Assam-Meghalaya cadre, is at present working as Special Secretary in Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) has approved Kumar's appointment to the post, a late-night order issued by the Personnel Ministry said.
Kumar's batchmate R Sridharan, special secretary, Ministry of Mines, has been appointed as Member (Finance) in Space Commission, it said.
Raghvendra Singh has been appointed as director general, National Archives of India. Singh is additional secretary in Ministry of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare.
The ACC has approved upgradation of the post of director general, directorate general of supplies & disposals (DGS&D), held by Binoy Kumar to the level of secretary for a period of two years.
