In a major breakthrough, SDM Patan, P K Sengupta succeeded in seizing around 8,000 cubic metres illegal stock of sand at seven places near village Pondikala and Pondikhurd, on Monday evening.
Continuing the special campaign against illegal excavation and transportation of sand, a team of district administration led by SDM, Patan, PK Sengupta and Mining Inspector, Satish Nagle seized 8,000 cubic meters illegal sand stock. Collector, Mahesh Chandra Choudhary has directed the officers for ensuring auction of seized sand stock from the spot. He also directed the concerned officers for conducting valuation of seized sand stock before its auction. SDM, PK Sengupta informed that during the surprise inspection, team also found an illegal ramp on river Hiran. The ramp could not be destructed due to late evening and said for its destruction on Tuesday morning.
District Mining Officer, PK Tiwari informed that taking stern action against illegal excavation and transportation of sand, financial penalty has been imposed in six cases of illegal sand transportation at court of District Magistrate.
