Odisha govt asks MCL to full up two closed underground mines

Odisha Chief Secretary A P Padhi today directed the MCL to fill up the two closed underground mines at Deulbeda and Handhidhua with sand within three years. The Chief Secretary gave the direction while reviewing the sand filling and reclamation works of Mahanadi coalfield Limited in its mines in the districts of Angul and Jharsuguda through a video conferencing. However, MCL authorities assured the government to complete the sand filling within five years time. Deulbeda and Hnadidhua underground coalmines at Talcher which produced A grade coal were closed several years back. Mr Padhi also directed MCL to work on the reclamation of old open cast mines located in these two district and asked the Director Mine Safety to be very careful so as to avoid any human causality.

 

MCL Director (operation) JP Singh took part in the video conferencing and presented the works undertaken by the coal company in these two coalfields.

 

According to official source here the review was made on two closed underground mines namely Deulbeda and Handhidhua.The chief secretary ordered MCL to complete the sand stowing in these two mines within three years.
