Officials of the Department of Mining seized four lorries which indulged in illegal transportation of granite stones and red sand near Omalur on Thursday.

On a tip-off, a team of officials conducted surprise check of vehicles on the Omalur – Dharmapuri road, when they intercepted a lorry transporting granite stones. The lorry was transporting granite stone worth Rs. 2 lakh without proper permission. The lorry was seized and handed over to the revenue officials. The officials also seized two tipper lorries transporting red sand illegally at Kaamalapuram and also another tipper lorry for over-loading.
