Jharkhand govt to sign MoU with CCL on using coal mine water

Ranchi | Jan 04, 2017: Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma today directed coal mining companies of the state to submit the annual coal and DMFT amount without delay. She also asked the companies to ensure the payment of tax dues to the state. She issued the instructions during a meeting with various coal companies.

Verma said the companies will have to prepare an analytical profile of coal demand so that facts could be found out regarding a reduction in sending coal.

She said the coal mining had gone down in the state and the dispatch was also obstructed as a result of which the state exchequer was suffering huge loss.

She said the reduction in coal dispatches should be analysed. For this purpose, the CS asked the mining commissioner Abu Bakr Siddique to visit Deoghar and Ramgarh to conduct inspection.

Verma said that an MoU will soon be signed between the state government and the Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) to make use of underground water found during coal mining.

In today’s meeting, it was decided to make arrangements for transit challan and forwarding note in the dispatches sent through the railways.

The coal department authorities told the CS that the coal companies were yet to pay Rs 1680 crore excluding another pending amount of DMFT worth Rs 624.30 crore and non-coal amount of Rs 221.82 crore.

The meeting was also attended by the mining secretary Sunil Kumar Barnwal and representatives of CCL and Hindalco.
