Singareni sees increased coal output in December

 

Hyderabad | Jan 02, 2017: Singareni Collieries Company has registered strong growth in coal output and despatches during December 2016, apart from overburden removal.

 

The State-owned mining company recorded output of 59.84 lakh tonnes of output during December, as against the targeted output of 52.70 lakh tonnes, registering an 18 per cent increase.

 

During December 2015, the company had mined 57.40 lakh tonnes, outpacing its projections then.

 

According to a statement, coal despatch was up at 59.84 during December 2016, up against 54.42 lakh tonnes in December 2015.

 

N Sridhar, Chairman and Managing Director of SCCL, said that if current productions levels are sustained over the next three months, the mining company would be able to surpass all targets it had set out during the year. The despatches were pronounced in Bellampalli, Rudrapur, Mandamarri, GDK among other mines of the collieries.

 

Referring to the 1,200 MW thermal power plant of the SCCL, which was commissioned during 2016, the CMD said that the power plant had thus far contributed about 1,980 million units and of this, 1,821 mu was supplied to the State. While the Unit One of 600 MW generated about 1,443 mu, unit two contributed 537 mu. Unit I and unit II were declared commercially operational during September 25 and December 2.
