Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today warned of stern action against erring officials and said their nexus with illegal stone miners would be broken at all cost to stop illicit stone mining in hilly terrain of the state. Mr Kumar, while addressing a public meeting during his "Nischay Yatra"here, said stone quarrying had been banned completely by the state government since 2010 but even after the ban, illegal stone mining was going on due to nexus between officials and stone miners. "Strong steps would be taken to break the nexus between officials and illegal stone miners and stern action would be taken against them for their indulgence in illicit stone mining,"the chief minister warned. "I have received a number of complaints regarding illegal stone quarrying in Kaimur hills and there is also report of connivance of the district administration with stone miners in illegal operation," Mr Kumar said adding that many steps like Ariel survey through helicopter had been taken to check the stone quarrying but it could not be checked.
