‘Advanced tech can ensure smart mines safety’

The 54th annual Mines Safety Week-2016 was held at Barbil on Sunday) where Deputy Director General of Mines Safety(DGMS) ,Ranchi Dr AK Sinha attended as chief guest.

 

He told that the need of hour is smart safety which means technology like laser beams and censure should be introduced as safety appliances to avoid the occurrence of accident at work places of mines. He further suggested the mines owners to give emphasis on the provision of annual safety plan and safety of the contract workers who should be educated to take care of themselves on safety matters. Others who spoke on the occasion included Deputy Director of Mines Safety, Chaibasa region Satish Kumar, PK Alluwalia and AK Bhuyan.

 

Besides giving prizes to different mines like SAIL, Tata Steel, KJS Alluwalia, Rungta, Jindal, Triveni Earth Movers, KN Ram, MG Mohanty, SN Mohanty and others for their group achievement in the field of mining safety, Dr Ajit Singh Nadrey, a mining engineer from Indian Institute of Engineer(IIT), Kharagpur batch of 1969 was conferred with life time achievement for his contribution in the field of safety and increasing the productivity of the mines under Joda DDM circle for last thirty years. Total 76 mines out 215 under the aegis of DGMS, Chaibasa had participated in the function. The programme was organized by M/KJS Alluwalia Mines. The next year programme will be organised by MG Mohanty Mines.
