BALCO observes Mines Environment and Conservation Week

The Bodai-Daldali Bauxite mines under the management of Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO) observed Mines Environment and Mines Conservation Week (MEMC Week-2016) at their location in Kabeerdham district, a company press release informed.

 

The Week celebrated under the aegis of Indian Bureau of Mines, Raipur Region focussed around creating awareness about the importance of Mining Conservation and Improvement amongst the employees, contract workers and villagers.

 

People who attended the programme took an oath for environment conservation and also planted saplings.

 

The programme was attended by Sanjay Sharma, Manager, ACC Cement, Mohammad Siddique, Dy. Manager, Emami Cement, Praveen Marathe, Assistant Manager, Bhilai Steel Plant who were all Guests of Honour at the function.

 

The guests were welcomed by Rajesh Mishra, Head- Bauxite Mines, BALCO and Pankaj Mohanta, Manager, Bodai Daldali Mines.

 

BALCO officers apprised the guests about mines management, dust suppression, environment, monitoring of air and water quality and community development programmes.

 

A drawing and painting competition was organised for school children and an exhibition was also held during the MEMC Week.

 

Participants who showed excellent performance were also awarded with prizes. A skit was enacted by a team of employees and contract workers to emphasise the importance of safety in our lives.

 

The programme was also attended by a large number of labourers and local villagers.
