Mining Safety Week was inaugurated at the Open Cast Uranium Project in Banduhurang of Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL) here on Tuesday.
The programme started with the hoisting of the safety flag. On this occasion, UCIl officers and staff took pledge to safeguard each other from accidents.
A function was organized to mark the Safety Week celebrations. The chief guest of the programme was the general manager of Turamdih Uranium Project PN Sarkar. He said that safety was as important as productivity.
He said that the company was implementing safety rules in a stringent manner despite zero accident record available with it. He said that measures should be taken to ensure that accidents do not occur in the future.
The other speakers of the programme included the mines manager of Banduhurang, Kishore Bhakt, security officer Pradip Kumar, representative of Sadbhavana Engineering Limited Premanand, Suman Kumar from SALE and D Kole from Tata Steel.
Earlier, the GM of Turamdih Uranium Project inspected the mining model of the Banduhurang Open Cast Mines.
