Jamshedpur | Nov 24, 2016: The OMQ (Ore, Mines & Quarries) Division of Tata Steel has been conferred with the Aqua Foundation’s Excellence Award 2016 under the category of Sustainable Development in Mining Sector.
The award was given away at a stellar international conference, ‘10th World Aqua Congress 2016’ organised on sidelines of ‘Water: Smart Solutions for Growing India’ in New Delhi on Thursday.
The award was received by Mr Dipak Behera, Head Planning Tata Steel and Mr Adarsh Agrawal, Executive Assistant to General Manager, OMQ Division, Tata Steel from Dr.Sunita Narain, Director General of Centre for Science and Environment (CSE).
Expressing happiness on receiving the award, Pankaj Satija, General Manager, OMQ Division, Tata Steel said: “This is a significant achievement for Tata Steel which underscores its presence in sustainable mining processes.We are committed to responsible mining with positive impact on triple bottom line.

Tata Steel`s most significant achievement has been the creation of a robust Rain Water Harvesting system in its mining areas which has generated immeasurable values to their operations, environment and the community.
Noamundi Iron Mine of Tata Steel has been adjudged the 5 Star rated mine in the country by Ministry of Mines, Government of India.
A pioneer in adopting sustainability as a policy, Tata Steel is guided by the approach that wealth created must be continuously returned to society.
This award is a perfect example that the company continues to underpin its efforts on governance, ethics, transparency and accountability.
