NLC to breakthrough in Rajasthan, UP

NLC India Limited has expanded its boundaries in the northern region by establishing mines and power plants in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

 

NLC, formerly known as Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited (NLC) is a Navratna enterprise under the Government of India.

 

A mine with a capacity of 2.1 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) cum lignite based thermal power station with a generating capacity of 250 Mega Watt (MW) at Barsingsar, Rajasthan was established in 2003.

 

NLCI in collaboration with Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited is setting up a 1980 MW coal-based super critical thermal power plant at Ghatampur, Uttar Pradesh through its subsidiary company Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Limited (NUPPL).

 

On 21-11-2016, the Letter of Award (LOA) was issued to BGR Energy Systems Limited, Chennai for the Balance of Plant Package (GA3 package) of Ghatampur Power Project (3x660 MW) of NUPPL, a subsidiary of NLC India Limited (NLCI) to a value of Rs 2788.60 crore.

 

Also NLCI has placed orders for the Bithnok Thermal Power Project (1 X 250 MW) and Barsingsar Thermal Power Station Extension Project (1 X 250 MW) at Rajasthan on EPC Basis.

 

The LOA for the above work was issued to Reliance Infrastructure Limited, Mumbai for an order value of Rs. 3691.51 Crore. The project is expected to be completed within 40 months from 21-11-2016.

 

Further NLCI is also implementing a 250 MW Thermal Power Project with a linked mine of 2.25 MTPA capacity at Bithnok and 250 MW Barsingsar Thermal Power Station Extension Project. NLCI has proposed to enhance its lignite mining capacity from 30.6 to 56.9 MTPA and power generation to 20151 MW by 2025.

 

With regard to NUPPL, the project is implemented through 3 package modes viz, Steam Generator & Auxiliaries (GA1 package) and Steam Turbine Generator & Auxiliaries package (GA2 Package) and Balance of Plant Package (GA3 package).
