KOLKATA | Nov 15, 2016: Kolkata is poised to host the International Mining & Machinery Exhibition (IMME) 2016 and the two day Global Mining Summit 2016 (GMS) between November 16-19, 2016. The largest trade fair dedicated to mining sector in the country, IMME is a platform to showcase latest and diverse range of mining machinery, equipment, advanced technology solutions, services and supplies both from India and companies abroad.
Key exhibitors at IMME 2016 include JCB, CAT, Volvo, Tata Hitachi, Mahindra, Sany, Leeboy, Srei Finance, Dozco, Sandvik, Atlas Copco, ABB, Puzzolana, Joy Global, L&T, BEML, Flsmidth, BKT, Bridgestone and Aeolus.
The event is supported by the ministries of coal, mines, steel and heavy industries & public enterprises and Coal India Ltd.
Amit Mitra, minister for commerce and industry, finance and excise, West Bengal, will inaugurate the four-day IMME 2016 and GMS 2016, at Eco Park at New Town-Rajarhat in Kolkata on November 16.
The inaugural meet will be attended by Balvinder Kumar, Secretary, Union Ministry of Mines, S Bhattacharya, Chairman-cum-Managing-Director, Coal India Ltd; Sarat Kumar Acharya, Co-Chair, CII National Committee on Mining and Chairman and Managing Director, NLC India Limited; Tom Albanese, Co-Chair, CII National Committee on Mining and CEO of Vedanta Limited; John Vann, Group Head of Exploration and Geosciences, Anglo American; Vivek Tupule, Chief Economist, Rio Tinto.
Since its inception in 1984, IMME has emerged as the largest mining exhibition in India. This year's edition will feature International Pavilions from Australia, China, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Poland, Russia and UK.
GMS 2016 is a signature event organized concurrently with the IMME. It will bring government policy-makers, mining professionals, technology providers, financing institutions, academia, geologists, environmentalists and consultants together to deliberate of the emerging issues and challenges being faced by the sector. GMS will also have a strong Buyer-Seller Meet, where large mining companies will share their procurement plans and explore key technology and collaboration opportunities in the next 2 -3 years.
