DALTONGANJ | Nov 09, 2016: A police team raided Sikni colliery site under Chandwa police station in Latehar and arrested 15 coal thieves on Monday night. The raid happened after a written complaint was filed by the Jharkhand State Mines Development Corporation regarding rampant theft in the colliery.
DSP Purshottam K Singh who led the team said they seized a 2.75 metric tonne of coal and 20 bicycles. The arrested thieves hail from Jalim village in Latehar .The DSP said the stolen coal is sold in markets of Sikni and Latehar. More crackdowns against coal lifters will be carried out, Singh added.
