Chennai | Oct 05, 2016: Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) India Limited is one of the finest and vibrant organisations with efficient and energetic employees who are sharing common goal, said Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power, Coal, New & Renewable Energy and Mines, Piyush Goyal.
Inaugurating the newly developed eco park, spread over 12 acres at Mine-II at Neyveli, on Tuesday, he appreciated the well-defined environment policy and green activities of NLC.
The Minister said NLC India's mining with environmental care can be a role model for any mining Industry and its initiatives will become part of India's growth story.
Piyush Goyal also visited Mine-I, and observed the mining operations, planted a sapling in the afforestation area of Mine-II and concluded his industrial visit at TPS-I Expansion. NLC chairman and managing director Sarat Kumar Acharya and officials were present.
On the occasion, NLC entered into an MoU with Annamalai University, Chidambaram, for 'NLCI-AU Skill Development Centre' and to start a diploma course in mining from this academic year to realise the National Skill Development Mission of Government of India.
NLC executive director/CSR S Sridhar and Annamalai University registrar K Arumugam exchanged the MoU. The Union Minister also flagged off the Swachh Bharat awareness rally organised by Neyveli schoolchildren.
