Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Tuesday reached Las Vegas in the US to attend a mining expo with an aim to explore foreign investor potential in the state and make it a global destination for investors.
At the Min Expo 2016 (Mining Expo), Das and his delegation met CEO of GE Mining Scott Phillips, CEO of Hollidaysburg Pennsylvania Sean McLanahan and Rahul Jain, Business Head of Surface Mining and Technology of Caterpillar Ltd. At the Jharkhand pavilion of the mining expo, Caterpillar Pvt Ltd also proposed setting up of a mining equipment manufacturing unit in Adityapur in Jharkhand, a statement said.
Das said Jharkhand is ushering in an era of industrial growth and is geared up to showcase its enormous potential to the national and international investment communities in order to attract suitable investments.
The state accounts for 27 per cent of national coal reserves and 26 per cent iron ore besides others, he added. Jharkhand Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma said so far the government has held fruitful road shows in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai.
During the road shows, Jharkhand has signed some crucial agreements with global corporations like CISCO and Oracle to impart skills to prepare for the technology leveraged future.
“During this US visit, the Jharkhand government is looking to seal collaborations with leading organisations and industrial institutions of commerce and trade bodies with the objective of boosting American familiarisation with and investment in Jharkhand,” she said.
The expo would be followed by a visit to San Francisco where the delegation is scheduled to visit Hewlett Packard Enterprise. The visits are aimed at bringing investors to ‘Momentum Jharkhand Global Investors Summit’ scheduled to take place in Ranchi on February 16-17 next year.
