NMDC Director Nanda elected MGMI president

NMDC Ltd’s Director (Technical) Narendra Kumar Nanda, vice-president of MGMI council is elected as the President of Mining Geological and Metallurgical Institute of India (MGMI)Council for the year 2016-17 at the 110th AGM of MGMI held at Kolkata on Tuesday.

 

MGMI is the oldest institute of its kind in Asia established in 1906 with more than 3,000 members representing professionals in different fields of minerals/mineral based industries; technocrat planners and policy makers both in the private and public sector at State/Central levels; experienced managers in different sub-disciplines ranging from evaluation of resources to their eco-friendly exploitation; academicians/research workers and students from geology, mining and metallurgy stream; chief executives of most of the organisations related to mines and minerals in India.

 

The Institute is now recognized to be one of the preferred professional society for all appropriately qualified personnel associated with the study and practices of the minerals and energy industries in India.

 

Nanda had been immensely contributing towards the growth of the mineral sector and under his chairmanship the Hyderabad Branch had been awarded the Best Branch Activity for five consecutive years. His new role as President of MGMI will invigorate as the mining and mineral sector is in the cross roads of commodity trough.
