District Mineral Foundation: Implementation and the Road Ahead

Date | Sept 13, 2016:

Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is organizing a three day (September 15-17) event in Jharkhand to discuss various issues with respect to implementation of District Mineral Foundations (DMF) and the road ahead for DMFs to become successful.

CSE believes that DMF is the vehicle by which some of the pressing issues and challenges of our mining districts can be addressed. If implemented well, DMFs can uplift the socio-economic and human development status of some of these poorest communities in the mining affected areas. However, to realize the potential of DMFs, effective planning, oversight, and capturing the aspirations of the community through proper engagement remain critical.

The Jharkhand event will involve meeting with community groups/ members from the states of Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Odisha, field visits in mining affected areas and engagement with DMF members.

Please stay tuned for further releases on the program, and materials with respect to District Mineral Foundation.
