Bhopal | Aug 04, 2016: Special Investigation Team (SIT), in its report submitted to National Green Tribunal (NGT), has said that 17 out of 23 sand mines operational in Narsinghpur on banks of Narmada were found to be violating environmental rules.

Of these 17 suppliers, Pollution Control Board had ordered sub-judice cases against five while orders were given to close crushers being used by three operators and nine were issued show-cause notice for continuing with illegal mining. The illegal miners named in the list are from Pipariya (Faulad Singh Patel), Dharampuri (Vanshika Construction), Gangai (Vanshika and Shiva Mining Corporation), Budhgaon (Vanshika Corporation), Jamunia, Belkhedi Jhalon, Kareli Kala, Belkhedi Narmada, Sagun Ghat, Ram Ghat, Baraman, Gadarvara Shakkar, Chichli, Sansar Kheda, Saikheda, Panagar and Chirahkala. Following NGT orders, police force has already been deployed at all the above-mentioned mines. NGT has fixed September 2 as next date of hearing.
