MOIL, country’s top manganese ore producer, had applied for mining lease over 76.409 hectare land in village Bharveli Awalajhari, Tehsil Balaghat, Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh. In this regard, the Government of Madhya Pradesh has given approval for the area. This area is adjacent to the existing Balaghat mine of the company. The company is taking necessary steps to register and execute mining lease at the earliest possible.
In May, the Government of Maharashtra had granted mining lease for over 53.75 hectare in village Parsoda, Tehsil Ramtek, Nagpur district in favour of MOIL. The company had last year in August received environmental clearance from Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change for opening a new mine in Nagpur.
MOIL is the largest iron ore company in India and fifth largest in world. It currently operates seven underground mines (Kandri, Munsar, Beldongri, Gumgaon, Chikla, Balaghat and Ukwa mines) and three opencast mines (Dongri Buzurg, Sitapatore/Sukli, and Tirodi).
