In its first meeting here today, which lasted for more than two hours, Sarbananda Sonowal cabinet took some key decisions.
The cabinet approved the constitution of a district mineral foundation under the chairmanship of the deputy commissioners of each district with members from panchayats and other stakeholders. This foundation will be funded from fees to be paid by the mining leaseholders as per central government norms. This fund will be used for relief and rehabilitation for those affected from mining activities.
